Meet Jules Starbrook

Jules is an Australian author, mum, reader, and lifelong lover of all things nerdy.

She writes emotionally grounded contemporary romance with slow-burn chemistry, introspective characters, and themes of healing, longing, and love that lingers—comfort reads you’ll want to return to again and again.

Inspired by period dramas and geek culture, her stories often carry a light thread of historical romance and nerdy charm—whether it’s a fantasy castle, an escape room, a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, or a nod to Harry Potter. To this day, she still can’t decide if she’s a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw.

She adores her children, and when she’s not writing, you’ll find her with a coffee in hand, walking by the beach with her children, quietly plotting her next story.

She’s still waiting for her Hogwarts letter.

Jules’s Origin Story

Jules has been telling stories since childhood. With a head full of ideas and a box of crayons, she’d fill A4 pages with hand-drawn animals, dictating the words to her mum, who wrote them down before stapling everything into a “book.” She treated each one like it belonged on a shelf.

She grew up in the glow of a clunky CRT monitor, lost in pixelated fantasy games, then novels, fandoms, and board games—always lit by a quiet love for stories that helped her escape.

On quieter days, she’d curl up beside her grandmother, watching old period dramas like BBC's Pride and Prejudice, as well as and black-and-white films.

Those early passions still linger, breathing life into every character she writes.
